On the 13 August 2019, the co-founders of Black Professionals Network (BPN), Frank Arko-Tharkor and Poku Osei, launched the Black Professionals Network in Bristol and sought the views of the over 100 professionals in attendance about their needs, aspirations, and vision for BPN. The findings from this consultation was used to develop the vision and mission of Network organisation.

The festival is a partnership between UWE Bristol and CASLE (Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy).The event is a two-day virtual conference to bring together experts in the surveying sector to discuss the future of the built environment and celebrate international communities.
CASLE was formed in 1969 as a federation of independent professional societies representing surveying and land economy in Commonwealth countries. It currently comprises over 40 societies in 32 countries; it has approved Associate Members and correspondents, some of whom are in 19 other countries. The professional societies represented cover the disciplines of surveying and mapping, land economy, and quantity surveying and cost-control.
